An adventure in Alaska, the land of ice, on board a Sanlorenzo 500Exp superyacht. The desire for discovery, the hunt for unknown and uncontaminated places where they can connect with life’s essentials, is a primordial instinct that has always pushed great explorers to the most remote destinations. That same sense of adventure guided the owner of the Sanlorenzo 500Explorer, Ocean Dream Walker III to one of the places most famous for connecting people with nature: Alaska.

THE SANLORENZO SUPERYACHT EXPLORER

Owners that love exploring continents with their yachts often choose the Explorer type of vessels, one of Sanlorenzo’s best sellers, which have transformed what were once working vessels, into a sophisticated and functional superyacht, equipped with a heliport, supplying their owners with the best way to face long crossings, even in oceans different from our Mediterranean.

This 500Explorer, in memory of the famous explorer, Bruce Chatwin, who loved travelling and writing in admiration of the uncontaminated places he discovered, crossed the seas of Alaska, enjoying the uncontaminated nature of this part of the world difficult to reach with other types of yachts.

The owner had an incredible voyage that, beginning in Florida, then carried on through the Panama Canal, up the west coast of the United States, to finally reach the land of ice and explore the majestic Alaskan Gulf, on board his 47-metre Sanlorenzo superyacht.

SANLORENZO 500EXP: 47 METRES OF COMFORT

A model that stands out for its careful attention to comfort, liveability on board, and exceptional performance during navigation, with a cruising autonomy of 4,000 nautical miles.

The imposing external design, designed by Francesco Paszkowski, recalls the profiles of the large exploration vessels, leaving the stern deck free to house tenders, or even sail boats up to 9 metres or, depending on the owner’s desires, a seaplane or submarine, space that is unthinkable for other yachts of the same size. Instead, the lower deck houses a beach club, equipped with a bar that  transforms into a garage to house a tender up to seven metres and numerous water toys for exploring the ice.

The 500Exp, the evolution of the 450Exp, is an elegant and advanced interpretation of the Explorer type allowing for complete autonomy in exploring distant lands. Ocean Dream Walker III was the first model of this range, developed side by side with its owner, for which Sanlorenzo created a touch and go landing pad for a helicopter, something very unusual in yachts under 50 metres.

THE OWNER’S REQUIREMENTS

By request of the owner, a heated pool was also built, a hot tub, sky lounge, and a long table to host traditional Chinese dinners, as well as a collapsible balcony, that covers the entire side of the owner’s cabin, in order to have a privileged view of nature. A solution which allowed the owner to enjoy the exciting spectacle of the Northern Lights directly from his cabin.
