The mega yacht B3 in Genova: a super luxury boat which is actually “just” a tender
The B3 is docked at the Marina Molo Vecchio in Genoa. A yacht that certainly does not pass by unobserved but is simply a service boat for larger units docked out to sea.
The “accessories” that can be seen from the outside are a minority compared to the complete facilities on the B3 mega yacht, a 55.50 metre super luxury vessel, with an overall length of 57 metres, which is, in fact “just” (quotes are a necessity here) a tender, a service boat for larger units which usually dock further out to sea.
Even though it is used as a service ship, the cruising experience only B3 can provide has no rival. In addition to water toys of all kinds to use while in roads, there is a tender, dinghies, a helicopter, and even a submarine. Passengers can truly enjoy the sea, above, below and on the water.
Among its characteristics, is the heliport, the giant main deck for the transport of aquatic equipment, including the submarine and water toys, and a large solarium. Up to 6 guests can be hosted on board in 3 suites as well as 20 crew members, including security officers, pilots and guides.
It looks like a military vessel. The B3 was built in Holland by Damen, and delivered in 2019, after it was sold during the Monaco Yacht Show of the previous year.
B3’s propulsion is through four CAT 3512 motors, which generate a maximum speed of 22 knots. At 10 knots, B3 has an autonomy of 5 miles which makes it a reliable boat for long distance cruising, as well as for brief trips away from the mother ship.
It is built in steel and aluminium and the hull has the typical Sea Ax shape, patented and tested by Damen for sustained speeds and improved stability, even in rough seas. Its bow is unmistakeable, perfectly perpendicular to the sea with its protruding anchor roller.
With its internal volume of 489 GT, B3 is equipped with a 12 tonne on board crane and accessories on the stern for the launch and recovery of large and heavy equipment like submarines.
