Famous national and international tourist destination, a favourite place to drop anchor for yachts and mega yachts, holiday location for VIPs and celebrities, Portofino is the gem of the Eastern Ligurian Riviera

The Village of Portofino.
Portofino is one fo the most characteristic and exclusive towns in the Mediterranean, not just in Liguria. Portofino and its promontory have been protected areas since 1935, and its uncontaminated nature of flowers, bird species, and invertebrates, as well as architectural buildings, make Portofino one of the most famous landscapes in the world.

The Park of Portofino and the Protected Marine Reserve.
The Promontory of Portofino, located near the village of Camogli, represents one of the most evocative areas of the Ligurian Riviera. Very characteristic is Monte di Portofino which drops straight into the sea, culminating with the rocky spur of  Punta Chiappa, the stunning bay of San Fruttuoso, famous custodian of the Cristo degli Abissi [Christ of the Abyss], and the eastern point of Punta Carega.
The seabed, typical of Liguria, and a destination for scuba diving expeditions, drops vertically for 20- 30 metres until it reaches a depth of 50 metres, where there are a number of sandy plains, ravines and hills, numerous species of fish and molluscs (of note is Posidonia sea grass), and marvellous red coral (Corallium rubrum).

How to Reach Portofino
To reach the village of Portofino by car, take the Rapallo exit (Autostrada A12) . It is recommended to park the car in Santa Margherita and to use the shuttle bus service (also available from Rapallo), as, in Portofino, parking areas are few and always full.
The best way to reach Portofino is by sea using the various ferries departing about every hour from Santa Margherita, Rapallo, San Fruttuoso, Genoa, and Camogli.

Boating in Portofino
For boats (under 10 metres) there are spaces in the small port for transit berthing, where boaters can dock for a few hours. For larger vessels, including mega yachts, there are a number of pay moorings and buoys available through reservation only, managed by the Marina di Portofino and by Pesto Yacht. Portofino also has refuelling services for petrol and diesel.
